Homemade Pizza

Seriously, is there a better site?  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE pizza.  I have been making it for a long time and I never get tired of it.  People think that it is difficult to make but it’s not.  The most difficult thing is trying not to eat it until it’s all gone.

Turkey Soup

Turkey Soup 011I hope everyone saved their turkey bones.  One of the most flavourful soups made is one made from bones.  Can be any kind of bones.  Chicken, beef, veal, pork and yes turkey.  Bones that have roasted first improve the flavour of the broth.  But better still a long cooking time helps to remove as many mineral and nutrients as possible from the bones.  This sort of broth is extraordinarily rich in nutrients.  Minerals, amino acids, gelatin and many more are found in bone broth.  These things help detoxification, digestion, support skin health, the adrenals, bones and teeth and they say bone broths will help our body’s ability to create healthy blood.  So why wouldn’t we want to eat soup.  Our grandmothers were correct in giving us chicken soup when we became ill.  It helps make our symptoms and side effects of colds, flu and upper respiratory infections less severe.

So what are you waiting for?  Put on a pot of soup with bones in it.

Lasagne

Oh my gosh.  This was really good.  Lately I have had such a craving for lasagne.  It isn’t hard to make and you can do it in stages.  I like to make my sauce the day before so when I’m all set to assemble the lasagne everything is ready to go.  I always purchase a very large brick of mozzarella cheese from Costco and grate the whole thing.  Put it into a large zip lock bag, freeze it and I have cheese ready for any recipe.  I find that if I leave the cheese whole I have  the tendency to not use it because I don’t want to grate it. Cans of tomatoes I always stock up on when it goes on sale.  I buy San Marsano plum tomatoes.  They are meatier and don’t contain as much water, which makes a nicer sauce and you don’t have to cook it as long.  If they come from Italy then that’s better still.  The San Marsano tomatoes in Italy are gorgeous.  They are so heavy and thick.  Even if you grown your own here, they’re still not the same. I just couldn’t believe the difference when we were in Italy.  I wish we could get them here. This recipe I have been making for more years then I care to remember.  I have changed it from time to time and used recipes from other people.  Friends, relatives, chefs and cooks but my husband does not like any of them.  He always wants me to make it this way.  So I will share this recipe with you. Simple Lobster Chowder

Every time I have made this lobster chowder I get compliments.  Everyone loves it.  My son even asked me for the recipe so I decided to put it into my blog.  When I first made the chowder, I just couldn’t believe how simple it was but also how tasty it was.  When I got the thumbs up from my granddaughter I knew I had a winner.  She is my food critic. Seriously, if you like creamed corn, you’ll love this.  If you don’t like lobster then add shrimp or scallops.  Hey, for that matter omit the seafood and add some cooked chicken OR if you don’t like creamed corn, just add regular corn.  Make it to suit your own taste. Easy Butter Chicken

Butter Chicken, Lazagne 008 This recipe was given to me by my daughter-in-law.  Both she and my son make it and it is ssssooooo good.  But best of all ssssoooo easy.  They are such great cooks.  It is such a pleasure to be at their place for breakfast, lunch or supper.  They can cook for me any time.  Hint, Hint!  I wonder if I’ll get an invitation soon?
