The Mayor had found a mailbox that he had put away and decided that we needed to put it up on the front porch, replacing the one that is already there. He asked me to paint it, so I set out to mix a colour that would be close to our front door.
I started by pouring Fusion Red into a container and slowly added Fusion Black until I had a shade that matched. Mixing it well in its container I proceeded to paint the mailbox.
After giving the mailbox 2 coats of paint, I coated it with 2 coats of Fusion Tough Coat.
I know nowadays people have no use for an outdoor mailbox because they have mail delivered at a mailbox centre where the mailboxes are provided by the post office. I am strongly opposed to these kinds of mailboxes and am grateful that we still have ours delivered to our front door.
Some of these mailboxes are vintage, like this one. It is really heavy and could be repurposed as a planter, napkin holder, a place to store cutlery or even a place to store bills. There are many uses, so if you happen to find one use your imagination and save it from the garbage preserving the memories of the past.
Love the colour — G.
