Harvest Time

It breaks my heart to think there are people going hungry.  We live in such a rich country.  One that lacks for nothing. In this day and age none of us should be hungry, especially children.  How can this possibly happen?  With  a few seeds and some dirt we can grow such beautiful produce.  If we do not have the  place to grow veggies, why not approach a farm and purchase the produce  which at this time of the year is plentiful and there is such a strong chance that maybe they would let you have these things for free, especially a charitable organization.

The farm where we pick our vegetables, will in one or two weeks sell their produce $1.00 for a 6 quart basket.  All you have to do is pick it yourself.  Being there yesterday and gathering up what you see in these pictures, we saw so many things that will rot and are already doing so or be thrown away or dug back into the dirt acting as a fertilizer.  Lets make use out of our food.  Let us be inventive as to how we make use out of the food we alone cannot not possibly use and in the process help some others who would go hungry.

I am going to contact an organization that make sure children are fed when they are not in school.  So many children are going hungry and why?  So many excuses we have as to why. Yes and I do mean excuses. It should not be happening.  If we are in a position to help someone, someone that cannot help themselves, then do it. I would like to see anyone who could use food that will automatically be thrown away or left to turn into fertilizer, make use it.  Why are we standing by and letting these things happen?  Go to one of these farms and do some picking then donate to someone who really needs it.  Just don’t let it go to waste and watch our neighbours struggling to put food on the table.  Help those who cannot help themselves.
