THE LITTLE BLACK BREAD BOX, TIMES 2

The Mayor is always thinking about his next project.  Though sometimes he helps me out when searching the on line auctions or local thrift stores.

This little gem was an after thought.  At our local thrift store we found a few wooden bread boxes which we did not purchase.  When thinking about it I decided that we needed one so we were on the look out again.  This one was discovered, being wooden and in good condition we purchased it.  I started to work on it and the same style came  up again but a bit larger,we also purchased it and thought I could sell one.  I finished this one and when my daughter-in-law saw it she asked if she could have the larger one.  So,  I am in the process of fixing it up for her. We originally found a beautiful roll top bread box in fantastic condition was put it in my cart and then decided to leave it.  When going back after a weekend, it was gone.

I sanded it down to the bare wood then applied BIN Zinsser 2 coats.  When dry Rustoleum’s White Linen was painted on 2 coats.  Last I dry brushed to give add some colour.

This  time the larger bread box was  painted a very vibrant green but not before applying BIN Zinner and 2 coats of Rustoleum charcoal.  My daughter-in-law LOVES colour.  The more the better, so when I showed her this green she said yes to the breadbox being painted with it.  After the paint dried, I distressed it with a palm sander then applying Minwax and AS Black wax.  A distressed breadbox, which will nicely fit into my son and daughter-in-laws kitchen.

While in the process of finishing it, it was a  good thing that I took this picture of the top.  I forgot to take one in the kitchen.
