Delicious Homemade Bread

img_6741I have always made bread from scratch and have baked it in the oven.  I would never have ever considered to use a bread machine.  I thought that the bread machines were for people who couldn`t make bread or who didn`t  want to make it from scratch.  Until one day I came across a brand new bread machine still in the original box at an auction and thought I would try it.

It was cheap so even if I didn`t like it, it would not have been a big deal.  Listen up everyone, you really have to get one of these bread making machines if you love bread!  Really I`m serious.  Oh my gosh, now I know why people have these things.

img_6731You dump everything into the machine, set it and walk away until it’s ready.  I love it.  NO WORK AT ALL.  The recipes that came with the machine were good but I started to play around with some ingredients and now I just love the bread this recipe makes.  I hope you will try it.

RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

1 Cup Warm Water

1 Egg

2 Tablespoons Butter

3 Cups All Purpose Flour

1 Cup Whole Wheat Flour

1 Tablespoon Kosher Salt

2 Tablespoons Dry Yeast

PREPARATION

Add ingredients in order.

Mix together water and egg. Beat the egg in the water add butter.  Put into the bread machine.  Add the flours, salt and yeast.  Pick the setting on the machine you want, turn it on and that is it until it is done.  Seriously, basically you beat the egg in the water or even separately then dump everything into the machine and you are done.

My problem now is to see all of these bread machines at the local thrift shops or at auctions.  Why do people want to get rid of them?(unless they don`t work)  These are ideal for those who can`t for one reason or another go to the store to get bread.  It takes no time at all to put everything in the machine and wait for it to bake without setting a foot out the door.  Great for seniors.  Can you imagine during a snow storm needing bread and not being able to get to the store.  Hey, hey if you have one of these at least you can make it.

I do hope you try it.

ENJOY!
