This chest of drawers was a real find. We go garage sailing all the time and very rarely do we ever see any furniture worth while buying. It was made by the Meaford Mfg. Company, in Meaford Ontario.
As we drove up to the house and passed it to find a parking space I was saying to the Mayor,”Furniture, Furniture”. I was in a hurry to get to it before anyone else did. I asked the lady how much it was and no sooner she said a man asked her the same thing. I was looking it over and told her I would take it before she changed her mind and gave the opportunity to the man that was waiting, which I assumed was a dealer. I was told it was from around the twenties or thirties. The lady selling the piece said it had been given to her by her mother and her mother received it from her friend, way back all those years.
My biggest problem was deciding what colour to paint it. I have accumulated a number of different kinds of paint so I have a great collection of colours. I finally decided on Rustoleum Chalk Paint Serenity Blue with which I applied two coats. Next a wash with ASCP Aubusson Blue. Loved the result. Never trying Minwax before I decided to use it mixed with the Aubusson Blue, which I applied around the edges and lightly on the surfaces. But not before slightly distressing the chest of drawers and applying natural Minwax on the entire piece first. I loved using this wax, it applied like butter and didn’t have a smell. I will most certainly use it again on my pieces.
I loved the way it turned out and would look great in any room.

Thank you for featuring me. Not to worry about being late. It is an honour to be chosen to be on your link party. I have a question. I cannot grab your Feature button. It just comes up as a camera on my blog. I hope your not having problems. If you can let me know if there is a problem and how I can put it on my blog. I would appreciate it. Thank you again for featuring me. It is truly an honour. I am working on an armoire right now, boy it’s a lot of work, so hopefully when it’s done I can post it on your link party.
