I am always reading on someones blog about renovations that they are doing. When it occurred to me that I should write about the one the Mayor is working on. It’s been in the planning stages for sometime and finally it is almost a finished reality.
It will take some time to complete but that’s ok. It gives us something to look forward to.
I haven’t been painting very long but each time I did I had a huge mess in my dining room. This is where I did my painting because it was the only room that had good lighting.
After a very short period of time I had accumulated so much painting stuff, that I was seeing a constant mess, even when it was tidy. After a long winter of this, the Mayor came up with this brilliant idea. He was going to build a shed. Not an ordinary shed, but one that eventually would have heating and air conditioning. Sounded good to me. So I began to help looking for a cute little structure that would serve this purpose and be pleasant to work in. Not to long into my search I found something that fit the bill.
Now the Mayor had to get busy and prepare the ground on which it was to be placed upon. Working in this space had it’s challenges. The ground had a ton of rocks that had to be removed, not to mention the 35 plants that had to be replanted somewhere else. For the shed or as the Mayor calls it the studio was to be built in the rock garden that he had planted so long ago.
Though having help, our little 3 year old grandson was always willing to lend a helping hand, was such a hard worker and usually accomplished more then Grandpa. It was a lot of work for the two of them and in the heat wave that we were having it seemed to be more then was anticipated.
As the month slowly passed by the ground work was finished and all we had to do was wait for the shed that was to be installed at the beginning of August.
It has been assembled and standing now for about two weeks. The Mayor is slowly working at it so hopefully I can use it as a studio soon. Purchasing insulation, an air conditioner a couple of work tables, looking for more windows to install and trying to decide on what kind of walls and flooring are to be placed inside. It is slowly coming together and looking like a nice place to work in. I will keep you all posted as it all comes together. I hope no one gets bored.
The electricity is now in, next new windows down the side and at the back. Really comming together nicely.
UPDATE
Birch Cottage as it was named after the birch tree directly behind it, now has two new windows, coach lamps, insulation, air conditioning, heating and the paneling will soon go up. We haven’t decided what kind but it is the next thing to be done. I will take some pictures of the inside and post them and as the work progresses I will post the progress.
Wow! You are so lucky! You’ll have air and heat! Lucky!!! It looks adorable too!

Thank you for taking the time to comment. Yes I am lucky and am looking forward to working in my little space. Can’t wait to fix the outside up a bit. Not much can be done to decorate the inside for it is a work space. That’s ok.
Hope you will check in from time to time to see it’s progress.

I work in our garage and that means it can easily be way too cold or way to hot! But I’m grateful to have a space at all! Enjoy your new space!!

When the weather gets warmer I do use the garage too but the problem being it’s so full of furniture and things waiting to be done I have no room to move in. I also understand about the heat and the cold. That is why I was using my dining room. So I am looking forward to my new space. Thank you for commenting.

Thank you Maxine. Yes I am lucky. It will be nice to have a space to work in. Though I won’t be able to do it up to look cute inside, of course it is a work space. At least I’ll have some elbow room and a tidy dining room.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. Have a great day!

Color me envious. 😀 No, really, this is so awesome. I work out of the basement and an old garage. I would love all this natural light when I am painting. Plus how fun to look out and see such a handsome additional space. Love it. Nicely done. So thrilled for you.

Oh Mia, thank you for such an awesome comment. I am lucky to have this space especially after working out of the dining room. If you look at the back of the Studio there is a solid wall right now. In the near future there will be a window of some sort so I can look out into the backyard and see the birds and plants etc. I am looking forward to it. Don’t be envious, I’m sure you also have a lot to be thankful for. Your health and family for starters. That’s the most important. Give thanks everyday. By reminding you I also am reminding myself. Have a great rest of the week.

Thank you Nicole. Maybe one day you’ll have one too. I hope so. Electrician coming in 2 weeks to hook up some electricity. It sure is a slow work in progress but I’ll be glad when I can finally start using it. Right now I’m working out of my garage. Pretty cramped space.
Thank you for taking the time to comment. Good Luck on the shed, never discount it. It can still happen.

Thank you Sharon. I love all the windows to. We are still going to put in some more. Down the one side and at the back. So I will have some more light comming in. Though another thought pops into my head about these windows. Who is going to clean them? HHHMMMM, funny that because I don’t like cleaning windows.
LOL.
Have a great rest of the week.

Hi Diana
Thank you for the lovely compliment and I am looking forward to getting to work in there and it was fantastic of my husband to build it for me. Actually it was his idea originally. But may I ask you a question? Who is Tania? I think that you have mistaken me for someone else. That’s ok as long as she is nice.
Have a great rest of the week.

Baba, that is just gorgeous! I don’t really need a shed or studio, but it’s just so cute I wish I had a spot for one! The structure in our backyard is a gazebo, which we love and use frequently. I even give the occasional afternoon tea party in it. Enjoy your studio!
