I have always said and still maintain that I have no artistic ability. So I’m not quite sure where this painting came from. All I know is I really like abstract art. So much so that the Mayor and I have purchased some pieces from an Art Gallery. From time to time I will run across some paintings on someone else’s blog which they have painted and think to myself “I wish I could do that”. Well one day googling abstract art, I decided to try it. It wasn’t that easy for me, but it wasn’t that hard either. So I decided to try again and again. In total I have now painted 6 pieces. The very first one I no longer have because someone else wanted to purchase it and she wasn’t even family. My head was spinning, I couldn’t imagine why.
With this piece I first prepped the canvas with Liquitex, course textured gel which was mixed into some Rustoleum White Linen Chalk Paint. When it dried I just started to paint with some of the paints I had in my stash. There was ASCP Paris Grey, Duck Egg, Rustoleum Chalk Paint Charcoal, Calypso Blue and White Linen. Ending with Artist’s Loft Acrylic Paint, Unbleached Titanium. When all was dry, the painting was sprayed with Winsor & Newton general purpose matt varnish.
I must say this is one of my favourite pieces so far. From time to time I will share the other paintings that I have done. I hope you enjoy them and will try to do one yourself. If I can do it anyone can.
Way to go girl!
