Lady In Red Mirror

I have no idea why I want to call this mirror Lady In Red.  It just reminds me of that song of long ago by Chris de Burgh.  It was from the year 1986.  I can’t believe it was that long ago.

Anyway, I wanted to paint this mirror in red because ASCP Burgundy is a rich beautiful colour and really would go with any decor. Though a bit intimidating for me to use, it being such a different colour to work with.  If it hadn’t of been for our son and his wife having a very similar mirror in red, I probably would have shied away from it.  But I loved theirs so when I came across this one I knew I had to do it in red.

First, I gave it a light sanding and coated it with 2 coats of the Burgundy.  After the coats dried I applied AS clear wax.  But what gives this mirror the richness and the depth in colour is what I believe to be a new product of the Annie Sloan line, black wax. Now, I am not a fan of the dark wax but when I had seen this wax on some of the paint colours, I instantly took a shine to it, (LOL get it?  A shine. Wax – shine, oh never mind.  Just a little humour).  It really looks nice.  So I immediately knew it had to be applied here.

I love the look and hope someone will snap it up because it really is gorgeous.  Contact me through my comments section if your interested.
