This was a real find. It came from Applewood St. in Mississauga Ontario from people that were downsizing. It must be a difficult thing to have to sell some of the things that mean a lot to you. But I’m sure at some point we all have to do it. Both the Mayor and I love collecting things so we have accumulated some treasures. Well to us they are treasures, to our son not so much.
Anyway, Applewood was sanded and then coated with shellac. I then painted it in a custom mix of ASCP, 1: Aubusson Blue, 1:Louis Blue, 3/4: Antique White. When it dried I gave it a wash of Aubusson Blue, let it dry. Then a wash of Provence, let it dry. Slightly distressing the table before coating it with AS clear and dark wax.
The top was sanded completely to expose the wood, then given 3 coats of General Finishes Walnut gel stain and topped off with 3 coats of Minwax polyurethane for durability.
It’s such a pleasure always to see the finished result. Even to me most times it’s a surprise.

A other job well done.

Thank you. I always love to see how a piece has turned out because it is never what I originally had in mind.

This is gorgeous! I always tell myself that “this year” I am going to get into crafting or wood working or re-purposing – my mom was ALWAYS doing those things when I was a kid and I firmly believed I would do them too… seeing this makes me more determined to try it myself! Thanks for linking up at Share the Wealth Sunday! Looking forward to seeing what you’re up to next week 🙂

Oh thank you. I love doing things like this when I have time. Well I`m just finishing an armoire. It`s been quite the challenge. Hopefully in the next little while I will post it. Please check back or follow me to get the post when I put it on my blog. I do encourage you to do these things. First it is so rewarding and for you it would bring back so many memories of your Mom.
