Does anyone remember these? They were quite the thing to have back in the 80’s along with Circle Of Friends. Or were Circle Of Friends later? Well anyway, they were really nice. Didn’t matter where you put them. Then all of a sudden they seem to disappear. As you can see I kept mine. Why I’m not quite sure, probably just hoping they would come back into fashion. I know the Circle Of Friends is still around, I have seen them many times.
I was looking through some blogs and I came across one, The Interior Frugalista that had a DIY project of painting the Mexican Clay Fruit bowls. When I seen this project I shouted “I have one of those.” Wondering now where I had last seen it. Then it came to me. It was shoved into one of the closets in the house. So off I went in search of this treasure that I had. Needless to say I found it and got to work painting it right away. I was so pleased because I have always wanted to use it again and now that it was given a new face lift, it would certainly fit in somewhere.
First being painted in ASCP Antique White then dry brushed with a combination of ASCP French Linen, Paris Grey and Graphite. A coat of AS clear wax was applied at the end. It was so simple to do and it was finished in a couple of hours.
It’s great seeing something being recycled. I just recently heard instead of going out and buying new things, go shopping in your own home. You have treasures there that you have probably forgotten about.
