We don’t eat dessert very often. We never have but there comes a time you just have to breakdown, give in and make something either for company or just a craving.
This cobbler recipe has been around for many years. More then I care to remember. It is a great standby if you happen to need dessert in a hurry and you don’t feel like baking or you just simply don’t have the time. I love it as a time saver without any fuss. I mean really, you don’t even need a mixer. How much simpler can it be? You basically throw everything into a pan and bake. Do I really have to convince you even more? Just buy the ingredients and make it. You won’t regret it.
These are the 3 basic ingredients. If you like nuts, add them. The only other ingredient you need is butter.
Into a casserole dish, (mine was approximately 9×13) put in 1 can of pineapple, with juice and 1 can of cherry pie filling.
Mix together. Add 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts of your choice.
Dot with 3/4 cup butter and bake at 350 degrees for approximately 1 hour. Should be nice and golden when ready. That’s it. Honest!
Scoop out of casserole dish and serve with whip cream or ice cream, which I didn’t do. That’s just my way of justifying having a piece.
It is that simple and great to serve warm and last minute for drop in company, grandchildren, neighbors near by, a party, an afternoon tea or just for a sweet tooth. So, so simple.
